Milton Mets Major Rookie Mets Capture the Cambridge Cubs Classic Major Rookie Championship!

The Milton Mets Major Rookie Rep Team played in the Cambridge Cubs Classic Rookie Ball Tournament this past weekend.  I’m happy to say that the team traveled back to Milton as Tournament Champions in the Major Rookie ‘A’ division!  The final was a hard fought battle between Milton and an excellent Leaside team.  After two innings, Milton was leading 9-6 in what had the makings of a slug-fest.  But, both teams played lock-down defense through the middle innings until Milton broke it open in the bottom of the 6th with four runs to take a 13-6 lead.  Milton’s defense slammed the door once again in the 7th to take the tournament finale 13-6.   Milton’s defense didn’t allow a single run over the games final five innings.  We’re so proud of the boys and all of their hard work! Way to go Ewan, Gage, Ryan, Mason, Nolan, Connor, Aiden, Brooklyn, Liam, Jaiden, Nicky, and Malcolm!!!

Milton Major Peewee Select Mets Tops In Brampton Peewee Select Tournament!

The Milton Mets Major Peewee Select Team played in their first tournament this past weekend at Sesqui Park in Brampton. The tournament consisted of 16 teams with 4 divisions.  After a slow start to their first game on Friday night verses Halton Hills, the Milton Mets found themselves entering the 4th inning down 12 runs.  Coach John brought the boys together and after an inspirational speech, they pulled together in an amazing rally in the 4th.  The Major Mets went on to score 15 runs in the top of the 4th including 9 runs scored on 2 outs and pulled out a 17-15 victory.  This was the turning point for the boys, learning to never give up even when things seem hopeless.  With a tie verses North York on Saturday morning and a win over Thornhill on Saturday afternoon, the Major Mets advanced to the semifinals Sunday morning.  Sunday morning the Major Mets faced the Mississauga Major Reds whom had beaten the boys in their opening game of their regular season 7-4.  It was an intense game but the Major Mets held strong and defeated the Mississauga Major Reds 11-7 to move onto the Championship Finals.  The finals consisted of the Milton Major Mets verses the North Toronto A’s.  With Milton Major finally being the home team for the first time in the playoffs, the game was back and forth.  The Major Mets found themselves down by 2 runs going into the bottom of the 7th.  The boys once again pulled together and after an amazing hit that scored 2 runs, it was now tied with 2 outs.  On a passed ball, the runner from third sprinted home and crossed the plate scoring the winning run and the team went crazy! Final score 12-11.
