As good as we are, we at BASEBALLMILTON cannot control the weather.
Field Playability/ Field Status - The Town of Milton monitors all fields and may temporarily close fields due to rain. Once a field is closed, all practices and games are cancelled for the entire day and evening. You can monitor your field status by visiting milton.ca
Rain/Bad Weather
- Before the game starts - If the town has not closed the fields (ie. due to late day rain), the conveeners and coaches will determine the status of the game prior to game time. If you have not heard from your coach, please proceed to the diamond.
- Once the game starts, Umpires make the decision on whether or not to proceed. Upon the first notice of thunder and/or lightning, all games and practices are suspended. All participants are to exit the field immediately.
Baseball Ontario follows Environment Canada guidelines with respect to lightening safety : When thunder roars, GO INDOORS!
If you can hear thunder, you can get hit by lightning. Take shelter immediately. If you cannot find a sturdy, fully enclosed building with wiring and plumbing, get into a metal-roofed vehicle. Stay inside for 30 minutes after the last rumble of thunder.
Heat Cancellations
- Safety is our number one priority. Coaches will make decisions for cancelling practices and games due to extreme heat and will communicate directly with their teams has needed. We encourage all players to bring their hat and lots of water to each practice or game.
